The baby in the manger is the love of our Creator. It’s easy to get all lovey-dovey this time of year. Easy to be on our best behavior, there are gifts of food shared with those who are. Christmas is packed full of different meanings. The Chinese make Christmas ornaments profiting from most of the world. Office parties, family dinners, church suppers, entertainment and feeding the poor all mark this time of year. What we make of these things, their meaning to us, is our response to this amazing demonstration of God’s love. My advice? Don’t take His lovingkindness for granted.
“Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint (holding back punishment) and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But (in accordance with) because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will repay each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life; but to those who are self-serving and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, He will give wrath and indignation.” (Romans 2:4-8 NASB)

It’s best not to adjust God’s word to fit man’s theologies. The Holy Spirit Makes the word of God as plain as day when we are willing to listen. Man’s wisdom declares itself to be right even when it’s not. Trust God to be your teacher, His word is spirit and gives life “to those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality.”
