1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem, which he saw during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.” We get to listen in.
2 Listen, heavens, and hear, earth;
For the Lord has spoken:
“Sons I have raised and brought up,
But they have revolted against Me.
God is calling all creation to listen in to His Judgements against His chosen people. Things became so bad it was only because of a promise God made to Abraham that these people are here today. 9 “If the Lord of armies
Had not left us a few survivors,
We would be like Sodom,
We would be like Gomorrah.”
But as bad as it was between them, God offered hope if they would just listen.
16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
Stop doing evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor,
Obtain justice for the orphan,
Plead for the widow’s case.
God now offers hope to those who listen to His Son Jesus. He announced the “Good News” of salvation, received by believing that Jesus was God’s sacrifice for you. Not something to be taken lightly. Believing this, Jesus then cleanses us with the word of God from all of our unrighteousness. Husbands, listen and understand how to have a holy wife.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.” (Ephesians 5:25-27 NASB)
