John, Christ’s apostle knew about spirits, and he wants us to know who’s who by testing them. Perhaps many would rather not know who has the spirit of the antichrist. Easier to seek shelter in the false security of ignorance, but God’s children are meant to know.
Men and women who deny that Jesus is Lord God in the in flesh have the spirit of the antichrist. The evil spirit that will never confess that Jesus is Lord, God’s Messiah. Emannuel, God with us. Their denials will come in many forms. They will say, Jesus was a prophet, a wise man, a good man or even a lie, but that spirit will never confess Jesus is from God. They would turn men away from God by seducing with lies.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and now it is already in the world. (1John 4:1-3 NASB)
There are haters in the world. Clenched spirits rising as fists toward the heavens, while mesmerizing men with their charms. The spirit of the antichrist has been active for centuries. Practiced in deceit it always finds a willing host, the heart of man. That is reality. God’s children beware of the spirit of error.
“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore, they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. The one who knows God listens to us; the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” (1John 4:4-6 NASB)
The saved have overcome the lies of demons because of Christ’s Spirit living in them. God’s children know their Father and wither or not words are true.
