“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward consisting of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” (Colossians 3:23-24 NASB)
I have known slaves held in bondage for debt, or by government. Well, actually this world is full of them. Oh, their conditions vary by degrees, many do not even realize they are slaves. They are trying to live the dream and will be shocked when they come to its end. The rug pulled out from under them will bring them down on their faces, or they will shake their fists in anger toward the heavens. It’s ruff here. Slaves of Satan or servants of the Lord Jesus are the only two options for mankind.
Now that that is settled, reread the instructions.
I am sure Jesus has all kinds of servants. Some get by with little sacrificed while others give their lives. Who can say what makes the difference? Or who, God or man? God is not partial; He offers the same instruction to all who would listen. Whatever you do, do from your soul knowing that Jesus gave you a future.
After a while, if you’re listening….
“No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:15 NASB)
