How’s Your Reading?

Lots of folks read through the lenses of their authorities, if they read at all. Their priest instructs them on what to believe. Others find pastors who justify behaviors with cursed beliefs, they don’t bother to read. Some pretend to believe; God’s not fooled. Then there are those who take nothing for granted. They search the scriptures to learn the truth.

Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.” (Hebrews 12:14-17 NASB)

Esau was short sighted. Eternity is forever. Only rejection comes short of the grace of God.

Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason, God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 NASB)
