Reject the teachings that God is a respecter of persons or that He acts arbitrarily. That is a terrible misjudgment of His righteousness. Teaching that your future was settled before you were born denies God’s gift to man, free will. God knows the human beings He is creating and how they will choose. He is raising children to be like Jesus, choosing to obey, “Not my will, but Thy will be done.” Choice.
I love Jesus’ words that say, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me And I will give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. (John 10:27-28 kjv)
As with Abraham, the God of creation spoke first. The dead hear His voice. They shut their ears and run away or repent and follow Him. And all the while God knows how you will choose. That has to be hard on a father’s heart, but great joy when a child chooses what’s best.
