The Saving of a Soul

“In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for a man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness of God.

Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:18-21 NASB)

Startling amount of resistance in the church to taking personal responsibility concerning Jesus’ call to repentance. “Acknowledge Him is all it takes to secure your place in heaven.” Deceivers denying the power of God in their own lives belittle God’s call to holiness and the sanctifying work of the Spirit. (1 Peter 1:2)

Resisters say, “faith is repentance and works deny faith.” Appearing godly, they challenge God’s expectations with their worldly morality and human excuses. How little they understand God’s ways, nor do they fear Him. What value has repentance when refusing to obey the One whom they say they believe?? “Do you not know that the one to whom you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?” (Romans 6:16 NASB)

“Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4 NASB)
