“A man after My heart”

“After He had removed him (Saul), He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.'” (Acts 13:22 NASB, 1 Samuel 13:14)

Hear the heart of a man after God’s heart. Each verse is a heartbeat. A steady rhythm, not erratic nor does it race ahead.

“Your testimonies are wonderful.
Therefore, my soul complies with them.
The unfolding of Your words gives light.
It gives understanding to the simple.
I opened my mouth wide and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
As is right for those who love Your name.
Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me.
Redeem me from oppression by man,
So that I may keep Your precepts.
Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.
My eyes shed streams of water,
Because they do not keep Your Law.”
(Psalm119:129-136 NASB)

These are not vain words used to impress. David’s words are power packed verses of truth. Remember what God said about him? These seven verses reveal his heart and shine light on our own. David knew flesh-failure and asked God to remove its power over him. A man after God’s own heart wants to do God’s will. David loved God. Reminds me of Jesus saying,
“If you love Meyou will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15 NASB)
