Something to Think About

Piece of a Letter

You would think that all of the important lessons would be taught at first, but that’s not the case. Take, for instance those lessons about love. Oh, we know about God’s love for us, or at least I hope we all do. If not, message me, I will tell you how to know His Love. Let’s listen as the Spirit of God tells us. I know you have probably heard 1 Corinthians chapter 13. Maybe at a wedding, possibly your own, at a Bible study or at least from the pulpit. A whole chapter teaching us what love is and why it is impotyant.

13″If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” Wow! Something to think about all you Charismatics and Pentecostals, especially those young ones, it is easy to be deceived. It’s not about us. It is about God’s love for us. He is patient and kind and tolerates a goodly amount of foolishness as we grow in grace. Be always willing.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” Wow! That covers lots of places in the so called “Third World” and those who think they have it better. How many preachers are preaching the teachings of demons? I have to wonder, don’t you? That’s why your time with God’s word is so important. Why does the gift crave attention, when it should be all about the Giver? Something for the gifted to think about.

God sees elders and scholars who are certain they know the correct doctrine as they belittle those who perceive differently. I wonder what God thinks when those acting superior condemn the ones for whom Christ died? The gift of prophecy is also understanding what has been prophesied. I see lots of you raising your hand. Good! Do you have love?

And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may (have a reason for pride) glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.” Love shares. Not to be seen by man and taking all the selfies. And it certainly isn’t performing for points, love expressed is enough. Love is God’s love.

Of course, I’ll continue if that’s His plan. It’s good to think about what God has given, His love.
