for something better
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9NASB)
“Make me know Your ways, Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You I wait all the day.” (Psalm 25:4-5 NASB)
What does it mean to “Wait on the Lord? What does it mean “to wait”? Wait does not happen easily for man. That’s what God calls us, “man.” We come out of the womb and immediately cry, man’s way when he does not get his way. We asked God to teach us His thoughts and ways and so, we must learn to wait. All in good time, it is best not to be impulsive, He really means wait. The future is as He wills. So, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.”
We often forget we are His workmanship and become the craftsman building what we think will be success.
“But as for me, I will be on the watch for the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7 NASB)
Watch while we are waiting. Watch Jesus build our future according to His plan. Our striving should be to enter His rest. “Therefore, let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience.” (Hebrews 4:11 NASB) The ones who died in the wilderness did not believe, they had their own thoughts and walked their own way.
“‘Therefore, wait for Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘For the day when I rise up as a witness. Indeed, My decision is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth will be devoured By the fire of My zeal.” (Zephaniah 3:8 NASB)
