The King’s Proclamation

“This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:

“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
By the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.”

“From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:14-17 NASB, Isaiah 9:1-2)

The God of Abraham said this was going to happen. The King of the heavens sent His Son to the earth to declare His Father’s will. And perform it! He left no doubt in the minds of honest men and women that there was no one like Him, unless they were deaf to truth and blinded by their sin that glorified them. All heard, “repent!” Heaven’s proclamation.

The light shone brightly at the first. We have heard the stories of burning torches and of lions being fed. Satan stomping of the Light, trying to put it out, sent sparks flying to all corners of the earth. That fire burned within the hearts of all those who obeyed. Is the fire going out? “now, will God not bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night, and will He delay long for them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7-8 NASB)

Faith starts with repentance, obeying God’s command. When we are willing to practice truth, we experience life in Christ. “But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.” John 3:21 NASB) God blesses us when we keep walking into His Light. Light exposes stuff so, more repentance when growing in Christ, but it is so very, very worth it.

The pictures will tell a story called “Moving Along.” The first shows dinner as I traveled on Thanksgiving Day to be with a widow who caught my eye. God had this widower’s heart beating.
