Matthew 5:13-20 NASB
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how (will) can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.”
Wow! That is serious. Jesus is talking to those who heard Him, His disciples and other Jews living under God’s moral Laws. Chosen people. God’s salt upon the earth. Many are called but few are chosen to be God’s salt hear on earth.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a (mountain) hill cannot be hidden; nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Their light was the Holy Scriptures, given for a purpose; to live God’s way so that others would see and glorify their “Father who is in heaven”.
They did not know then what we know now. Their Father in heaven sent His Son, Light burning bright on their Scriptures. Light exposing the heart. The fire of God’s Spirit now enlightens children with His living Word. Are you ready to fulfill God’s purpose?
“Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
All’s not accomplished
There are still prophecies to be fulfilled. Salvation has been secured for those who turned to Christ for forgiveness. Unfortunately, listening to Christians speak among themselves, perhaps the “least in the kingdom of heaven” will prove to be the many. But whatever you do or fail to do, never think you’re doing God a favor. The saved are called to live God’s way, by His Spirit, so that our Father is glorified.
Religion for show will never do.
“For I say to you that unless your righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
“Moving Along” Two become one flesh.
