Only One Gospel

and only one Saviour, Jesus.

Jesus brought God’s gospel, the gospel of the kingdom. He declared God’s love and the right way to live in His Father’s kingdom. Remember that He said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” This is the same gospel He personally taught to the apostle Paul. We say we are saved because we believe in Jesus. We believe that He was crucified, died for our sins, was buried and rose again. Now we are learning to live according to God’s will.

And it is difficult. Jesus gave us the right to become children of God when we believed in His name, Saviour. (John 1:12) Those given this authority do well to believe what Jesus says.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” (Matthew 6:19-24 NASB)

Where is our focus? Earthly or heavenly treasure? Some of each? Where do we want our heart to be? It cannot be divided. Jesus fills us with truth, if we receive it, light that allows us to see.
