in a judicial court shown to Daniel in a vision.
“I kept looking
Until thrones were set up,
And the Ancient of Days took His seat.
His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head like pure wool.
His throne was ablaze with flames,
Its wheels were a burning fire.
A river of fire was flowing
And coming out from before Him.
Thousands upon thousands were serving Him,
And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him.
The court convened,
And the books were opened.” (Daniel 7:9-10 NASB)
Our name is written in one of these books. We will each stand before the Ancient of Days. John saw these books being opened and the dead were judged.
“And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.” (Revelation 20:12 NASB)
This is good news to those whose faith is in Christ. He was judged guilty in our place. Our names are written in the book of life, but judgement still applies us to those who serve the Lord.
“For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, each one’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each one’s work. If anyone’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet only so as through fire.” (1 Corinthians 3:11-15 NASB)
There will be “a river of fire coming out from before Him.” So, build while it is still day.
