One’s an unknown.
Did you know the Spirit of Christ was in the prophets? Jesus’ testimony is the Spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10) declaring what will be. To each, Christ’s revealed some of the gospel. They sought to know who was their promised Savior and when He was coming. Like a puzzle they tried to put together the pieces. Daniel was even told when the Messiah was to die. (Daniel 9:24-26) Best of all was Christ’s Spirit foretelling of His resurrection. Psalm 2:7, Isaiah 55:3, and Psalm 16:10.
“As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.” (1 Peter 1:10-11 NASB)
Much has changed. The “Who and when” are no longer mysteries. The Saviour name is believed or is used as a curse word, and most have heard of Christmas. Today we know who’s coming, but we are told that it is “not until ……” Like the prophets we still do not know when. Jesus said even He did not know the day or hour. Today is the day Christ’s Spirit reminds us to fill our lamps. Can that mean anything other than being faithfully obedient? Something to ponder.
The children of God are like this puppy. Some are very stubborn; others are kind of slow. New “EVERYTHING” must be learned. It’s up to the Master to teach His thoughts and ways and puppies just want to play. It takes a while before they become serious. Making a mess comes natural, supernatural must be imparted. All that, and a new language to understand. With puppies and children, the goal is the same. Obedience to the will of another.
“Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him,” (Hebrews 5:8-9 NASB)
