And most have heard the name above all names.
Even Samaritans knew about the Messiah, the One who was to come. The sent One, Shiloh. “The scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.” Jesus, God’s Son, fulfilled Jacob’s prophecy over his son, Judah. To Jesus be the obedience of the people. (Genesis 49:10) And there at Jacob’s well He declared Himself to be God’s Messiah. The One who would rule over the nations.
“You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews. But a time is coming, and even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.’ The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am He, the One speaking to you.'” (John 4:22-26 NASB)
God’s word, from Genesis to Revelation is like a glorious tapestry revealing what we cannot perceive with our natural senses. God’s Spirit is needed to see and to understand. That, and time. Ask, seek and knock are things we must do to take part in God’s calling. Remember the servant who buried his master’s money instead of investing it for gain, or at least interest? (Matthew 25:27-29) We have all been entrusted with something and will someday give an account. We are different yet the same as the body of Christ. Each with something to do. Today I’m reminding. Our Lord will return.
