Man’s plan, thousands of years ago.
“Now all the earth used the same language and the same words. And it came about, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. Then they said to one another, ‘Come, let’s make bricks and fire them thoroughly.’ And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. And they said, ‘Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let’s make a name for ourselves; otherwise, we will be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.'” (Genesis 11:1-4 NASB)
Satan’s temptation
“You will become like God, knowing good and evil” echoed in the heart of man. According to our ways and means, their plan to reach the heavens needed a lot of help. But did you see the motive of man’s heart? Before laughing at their plans read why God took them serious.
“Now the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the men had built. And the Lord said, ‘Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they have started to do, and now nothing which they plan to do will be impossible for them.'” (vs. 5-6)
“Let Us” says the Lord
“Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.” So, the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth; and they stopped building the city. Therefore, it was named Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.” (vs. 7-9)
From one tower to another
Computers enabled man to share information by translating it into other languages. My first computer’s largest part was called a tower. We have come a long way and the plans of man have not changed. The rich and powerful exalt themselves thinking to be gods controlling humanity. They know what is good, but being evil they are deceived into believing they know what’s best. Wars will be fought, and kings installed who give their power to one.
Safety
Jesus “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10 NASB)
The end of Man’s Governments
“You continued watching until a stone was broken off without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and crushed them. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed to pieces all at the same time, and they were like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the entire earth.” (Daniel 2:34-35 NASB)
