With authority comes responsibility
Lots of folks will tell you it doesn’t matter, that God decided our fate long ago. To them and all I will share a secret, Jesus gave believers the right to become. We make our own decisions in the light of Truth, becoming responsible for our own actions. “He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God.” (John 1:11-13)
God, full of grace, wants the best for His children, but we have a lot to say about the child we become.
“Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: ‘The Lord knows those who are His;’ and, ‘Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness.’
Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver implements, but also implements of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honor while others are for dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be an implement for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:19-21 NASB)
