Testimony

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10)

Received a message from a Pakistani Evangelist the other day asking me to give my testimony. Started me thinking about the various testimonies I have heard over many years. Testimonies from ex satanists thrilling their audience with an amazing tail of their salvation. I’ve read the conversions of famous people who sold their story in a book. Heard the enthusiastic testimonies of those recently saved and gave my own from time to time.

Aging, I have come to realize our testimony is the gospel of the kingdom, the testimony of Jesus. I was dead to God even though I believed in Him. (Everybody believes in God no matter how vigorously some deny His existence.) Then came the day I heard the gospel of the kingdom as told by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” I could not stop reading the Word of God. That was many years ago and I’m still reading, but I call it listening.

My testimony is the gospel of God, the Almighty who brought me to life through the words of His Son, Jesus the Messiah. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14 NASB)

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'” (Matthew 28:18-20 NASB)

For thousands of years saints have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the gospel. First apostles, then missionaries brought the gospel to foreign lands. Satan’s furry could not stop it’s spread. At times only a few saw the light of Christ; persecution took its toll. But the gates of Hell did not prevail against Christ building His body, the church, as others heard the testimony of God in heaven. My story won’t save anyone, but faith will come by hearing the gospel. So, we do our best spreading the Good News of God’s gospel, and calling for repentance, as we wait for the angel to appear.

“And I saw another angel flying in midheaven with an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people; and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth, and sea and springs of waters.” (Revelation 14: 6-7 NASB)
