Walk Worthy of Your Calling

Apostle Paul

“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4;1-6 NASB)

A Song of Ascents, of David.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
Running down upon the beard,
As on Aaron’s beard,
The oil which ran down upon the edge of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon
Coming down upon the mountains of Zion;
For the Lord commanded the blessing there—life forever.”
(Psalm 133:1-3 NASB)

John the Baptist

“As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11 NASB)

A man who needed to know

It is clear that Jesus is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. There are many different explanations of what it means to be baptized in the Spirit. Most can be cast aside when realizing that Jesus performs the baptism. We only need to believe Him. He said, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever;” (John 14:16 NASB) Jesus is the One asking, faith receives the Father’s gift, the Holy Spirit. But what about the fire? I have found it to be a holy fire that burns away all that is not of God.

Hope the fire of baptism is burning in you.
