Founding Fathers Rolling Over

Common thought or expression among conservatives. Those who formed the United States of America would roll over in their graves if they knew what it has become.

So, what about the prophets and apostles, the ones who proclaimed Christ’s coming and those who said He was coming again. I’m thinking of the apostle Paul. What would he say if he saw the church today?

“Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10 NASB)

What would he say if he saw what we call church? I know the Lord Jesus is building His church, those who were the lost sheep, are now found and faithful. The day is coming when the obedient are called to separate from those who refuse. Church is in your heart, joined to those who are of one mind, Christ’s.

“I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive any of her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her offenses.” (Revelation 18:4-5 NASB)

Gardening is like most endeavors; it takes patience and time and instruction before there’s fruit. I bought strawberry starts three years ago. The second year they were invaded by buttercup weed seeds that intwined their roots with the berries choking out nutrients needed for fruit. Tediously separated to be replanted this year there is now hope of harvest.

God is the Gardner. We start needing to grow, and then come the times sin robs us of nutrition. Thank God! For He’s the Gardener who separates us from sin that there might be fruit. It’s called pruning.
