When was the last time you appreciated God’s gift? Was it when your heart slipped out of your mouth and God’s Spirit made you hear it? That was the gift meant to change you. Those times you knew better but did it anyway, prove your faith in God’s forgiveness. So, now what? Salvation has been secured by your faith in the blood of the Lamb. Now free from guilt and shame and the chains that bound us we can experience real freedom.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.” (Galatians 5:13 NASB)
The Father’s love is the gift that sets us free from self. Free to express God’s love in service to others. Flesh is selfish, it wants to be pleased, but now we are free to choose who we will please. Freedom.
Consider the gift of God.
“Jesus replied to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” (John 4:10 NASB)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 NASB)
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.” (John 14:15-17 NASB)
“So, if you, despite being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:13 NASB)
Consider Who you’ve been given.
