Prophecy and the Psalmist.

The Spirit of Prophecy. Revelation 19:10

His words are Spirit. The words that came from the psalmist contain prophecies to be fulfilled. It has been a long time since the Psalms were written. Inspired by the Spirit of God, prophecy is revealed to us by the Spirit of God.  In His time.

The photo was taken within the ruins of Masada, a mountain fortress built by Herod the Great. The holes in the walls were for pigeons. Shelter from the sun and water provided plenty of pigeons for Jewish religious sacrifices.

Much has happened to the Jewish people since the Psalms were written. Masada was their last stand against the Romans. Pigeons didn’t help. Rather than fall into the hands of their assailants they drew lots to see who would next be murdered by a fellow Jew. Over nine-hundred men, women and children died this way. Two women and three children hid themselves. They lived to explain the morbid site that greeted the Romans scaling the wall.

Well, that is history. Now for some good news. Psalm 98.

Verse 1 has been fulfilled. Verse 2-3 have been and will be again.  Verse 4-9 is the telling of the future. May the certainty of God’s words bring you joy as you read them again and again. It has been a long time, as we count time, perhaps we will live to see this prophecy fulfilled.

“O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm (Jesus) have gained the victory for Him. (Vs 1)

The Lord made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His loving kindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of God. (Vs 2-3)

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody. With trumpets and the sound of the horn Shout joyfully before the King, the Lord. (Vs 4-6)

Let the sea roar and all it contains, The world and those who dwell in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy before the Lord, for He is coming to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness And the people with equity.” (Vs 7-9)
