Aspirations.

Desires of the heart.

Do you suppose there could be a Bedouin boy who hopes to have a camel someday. That he could be like his rich uncle who is handed money from the tourists. They take pictures and give him money. How cool is that!

Aspirations of a Bedouin child are better understood when hearing his story. Not many years ago his family migrated from somewhere in the Arabian desert. They fled from a blood feud with another tribe. Settling in the Dead Sea region of Israel, without title deed, they are squatters beside the road.

For the Christian, the desires of the heart are the desires of a new heart. How different than our heart of stone. At first, we have godly desires to express our life in Christ.  In time we learn that it is Jesus who wants to express His life in us. His desire is to glorify our Father.

“Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and enjoy faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.” (Psalm 37:3-5)
