Most want to look good.
The question becomes, who do you want noticing as you do the things you do. It matters greatly that you know. Jesus describes the hypocrites who make the wrong choice and cheat themselves out of true rewards.
“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. (Matthew 6:5 NASB) That dear reader is Fake Morality known as “virtue signaling.” There is a lot of that going on today, as well as Fake Conformity called “political correctness.”
These are demonically inspired substitutes for righteousness and oneness. Satan would misdirect mankind’s need to be noticed and loved. Human approval is the gain of hypocrisy, God’s approval is the practice of truth. After hearing the gospel these are our only two choices. The question then becomes, “Who gets the glory?” Do we seek the praise of men, or of God.
This I can tell you for sure, God is a Rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NASB)
