Burdens

The weight increases on the lives of God’s children as it does for those in darkness. Many are like this donkey carrying the weight of this world, with Satan riding on top. This burden reveals our helplessness, but offers no solutions. Brothers and sisters, moms and dads, Jesus is walking beside us. Remember what He said?

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NASB)

Jesus did not say He would take your burden away. What He said was “take my yoke upon you.” (Let Me decide the way I want you to go.) “Learn from Me,” and become gentle and humble. That is the resting place for the soul. But, like Abraham, we have to believe what God has said.

“For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.’ And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.” (Hebrews 6:10 NASB)

Many today are at heaven’s doorsteps as starvation takes its tole. The burdens of poverty may not be taken away, but Jesus will greet you if He takes you away. Our days are numbered and written in one of His books. So, what can we do about that? Nothing, except rest. There are lesser burdens, like a relative we think is possessed or one who just makes life difficult.

He is walking right beside us. A heart that is willing to listen, is a heart that will be heard. Be patient and wait, and like Abraham, you will receive His promise. Come! Trust Jesus to keep His promise.
