Are we?
God has made some promises to those whom He favors, those who believe in His Son. He made some promises to Moses, He favored him. Moses wanted to find God’s favor, to experience it in his life and in the lives of his people. If Moses was to go any further he had to know God was going to be with him. Moses asked and God favored Moses with His presence, He dwells in His children today.
“Now then, if I have found favor in Your sight in any way, please let me know Your ways so that I may know You, in order that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people.”
And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Sound familiar?)
Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are on the face of the earth?”
The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.” (Exodus 33:13-16 NASB)
I suppose Moses would be shaking his head if he saw us limping along when we are so amazingly favored by GOD WHO IS SPIRIT DWELLING IN US. Moses was a real man like us. Sure! He saw the burning bush that got his attention. That’s because God was on the outside. Outward signs are no longer necessary to get our attention, His Spirit is on the inside. Moses talked to God seeking assurance, we should too. He will answer and tell us to “rest.”
