As I remember, the gospel is an invitation. Hard to believe that anyone would reject good news, but they do. Keeping their sin is a very shortsighted choice. Or maybe they have yet to hear. We can do something about that. Wait! Perhaps, we need to better hear all that Jesus has done for us.
My friend, an African Bishop, told me stories about his memorable adventure in New York City. Sitting in the lobby of the hotel chatting with another man of the cloth when a small girl came up to them selling candy. They were both struck with her enthusiasm as she told them about her wonderful candy. She knew how they tasted.
Prophetic “Last Days” Instructions (Luke 14:16-24)
“And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon them to come in, so that my house will be filled.” (Luke 14:23 NASB)
This little girl compelled educated men to buy her candy. She pressed upon them the truth of a very tasty candy. We have something so much better, the love of God in Christ. “Press upon them to come in.”
